This Special Issue of Biocatalysis and Biotransformation is dedicated to the memory of Professor Antonio Ballesteros, former Editor-in-Chief of the journal, whose vision, scientific excellence, and leadership left an enduring mark on the field of biocatalysis and biotechnology. Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Ballesteros made pioneering contributions to enzyme technology, biotransformations, and the development of sustainable bioprocesses, helping to shape modern biocatalysis as a key discipline at the interface of chemistry, biology, and engineering. As Editor-in-Chief, he played a fundamental role in strengthening the journal’s scientific quality, international visibility, and commitment to innovation. Beyond his scientific achievements, he was a dedicated mentor, collaborator, and advocate for interdisciplinary research, inspiring generations of scientists around the world. Following his passing, the biocatalysis community has lost not only a remarkable researcher but also a generous colleague and friend.
